Eight, Nine & Ten: The Fitch Family Farm

We first visited the Fitch family farm of Cornish, New Hampshire with the series Nine Generations, which took a brief look at the lives of James (Jimmy) Clyde Fitch (8th) and his wife Susan (Sue) between 2010-2012. Their youngest son Courtland Brewster also made an appearance, representing one of the ninth generation to grow up on the farm. Since Nine Generations, Courtland (Corey) and his wife Deanna have settled on the farm and started a family of their own.

For the Fitch family of Cornish, New Hampshire, living by the seasons has been a way of life for generations. The farm has been in the family for over two hundred and fifty years—or one thousand seasons—and is now called home to the eighth, ninth, and tenth generations.

Like we adapt to the changing seasons, so does the farm with each generation. Recognizing both the present and past is essential, as it offers valuable insights for the future. Traditions and family histories are in the details. Every detail, no matter how small—such as a snow pea—contributes to the farm's distinctive qualities and characteristics.

Eight, Nine & Ten: The Fitch Family Farm is an expansive collection of photographs of this multi-generational family farm from 2015-2024, presented in two parts. Part One: a series of portraits introducing the family members: Jimmy, Sue, Corey, Deanna, Hudson, and Hayden. Part Two: a series of landscapes and portraits of the farm throughout the seasons.
